Poker Run for Fun!

THANKS!

The Jessamine Humane Society would like to thank all who participated in the 2008 Ride for Rusty Poker Run. The event was a huge success and a lot of fun was had by all. This would not have been possible if not for you awesome riders. We raised money for our organization, but more importantly we raised awareness for the plight of the homeless animals we have in our charge. I would personally like to extend my gratitude for all who rode and stuck with us through the long process of handing out prizes.

We are still taking orders for the Rusty's Red wine and you can contact Sharon at Talon Winery for placing an order. Each bottle is $12.50 and the JHS receives a portion of the proceeds. Next year we will sell another collector's edition bottle with a new design for the label. We look forward to keeping this tradition for years to come.

Update on Rusty:

Most people know that we are no longer caretakers for the animal shelter in Nicholasville. We have received many inquiries on what happened to Rusty. Well, Russ is living life to the fullest on our president's farm, helping to feed the horses, alpacas, and fighting over which bed he gets to sleep in at night (either the bedroom or the living room). He discovered that he likes kiddie swimming pools and lounges daily, and has been known to utilize the horse troughs for a quick dip. Click here for some pictures of Rusty living the good life.

Update on the Jessamine Humane Society:

We are still the Jessamine Humane Society, and are meeting regularly to beging our new future and having a place to call our own. We are excited about the new outlook and are brainstorming on how to better serve the animals of Jessamine County. We are planning future fundraisers and will update you as details are worked out. Our next goal is to begin construction on a new shelter facility on our acreage near Camp Nelson. Please keep us in your hearts and prayers as we are still out here fighting for the rights of the animals we so dearly love.

I am currently fostering 4 of our kitties that we could not leave behind and am looking for forever homes. If you know of anyone who would be interested in meeting them please contact me.

Thank you again for all of your support. I will be sure to update you on anything that arises.

Sincerely,

Julie Morris

The Ride for Rusty is a 5 card draw game of poker and consists of 5 stops along a scenic pre-determined route. All of the proceeds go to the Jessamine Humane Society, to help with the daily operational expenses that are incurred with housing so many animals.
